Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol was born in 1927 as son to Czech immigrants in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Following his apprenticeship as a window dresser he studied history of art, pictoral design, sociology and psychology from 1945 to 1949 at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh. He then went to New York as a commercial artist. As a painter, graphic artist, photographer and director of films, Warhol is considered a founder and main exponent of Pop Art. He died in 1987 in New York.
