Georg Baselitz

Born 1938 in Deutschbaselitz (Sachsen) as Hans-Georg Bruno Kern, he studied at the Academy of Applied and Fine Arts in East Berlin, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in West Berlin under Hann Trier. Since 1961 he goes by the name of Georg Baselitz and is regarded as one of the most important painters, graphic and sculpture artists of our time. He lives and works in Bavaria.
